Michigan State University: Careers in Writing Website

The Professional Writing program wanted to provide a resource for prospective majors who wanted to know what they could do with a PW degree. With one other student, I worked to research and write about freelance writing opportunities. I presented the information in a tone that blended with the rest of the site and spoke to a pre-college audience.

CSS Zen Garden

CSS Zen Garden lets designers try their hand at creating a Cascading Style Sheet for their HTML code. Experimentation is encouraged, and I wanted to create something different than the sleek, graphic-heavy designs that people usually go for. I designed a scrapbook inspired look using Microsoft Paint as my only image altering program. This page shows my CSS skills and proves my ability to work well with limited resources.

RR Embroidery & Design Website

A small business owner wanted a bare-bones website where potential clients could get contact and pricing information. While building this website, I learned to worth with a client who was not interested in the design of the product, but at the same time did wanted me to to stick to his basic criteria. The result is a clean, polished look that features the company's logo and provides easy navigation to basic info. I suggested an "About" section to espouse the company's qualities and add a personal touch, as well as a gallery of their best work and prestigious clients.
